In Jeremiah 27, the Lord told Jeremiah to start wearing a yoke around his neck. Let me take you to the scripture and show you this text, this is what the Lord said to me, make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck. So Jeremiah is now quite a human oddity, walking around Jerusalem wearing this yoke around his neck – a yoke like they would use for oxen and mules. He is wearing this thing around his neck, and as people look at him they are amazed at his behavior.
Well, you know, God sometimes does strange things like this. Remember when God required Isaiah to go around stark naked for three years with buttocks bare? The scripture says that sometimes God goes to rather dramatic links to get people to understand his great displeasure with our behavior, but we're so dull and so deadened by the Novocain of sin that we don't understand, we don't see and we can't hear.
