HOW TO MAKE: HOMEMADE PIZZA DOUGH AND PIZZA SAUCE
Hi, welcome to a new video on how to make homemade pizza dough and homemade pizza sauce. Up until recently I always bought ready-made pizzas from the supermarket or ordered pizza for a takeaway night and thought nothing of it. Then I happened to stumble across this YouTube video of homemade pizzas and decided to give it a go. The recipe was easy and very simple to follow and required minimum ingredients, all of which I had in the kitchen. We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty the pizza was and I love that I can prepare it the day before. I can honestly say, we prefer it to the pizza we use to order in and all the supermarket ones!
Homemade pizzas are fresh, you can have any toppings you like and as much as you like of one topping, the pizza sizes can be made large or small and best of all, it’s a fraction of the price to make it over buying ready-made ones.
Recipe For the dough
Ingredients:
420g all-purpose flour
1 1 /4 cups warm water
½ tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. salt
Method:
In a bowl, add the warm water, honey, salt, and yeast, mix well and leave to sit for 5 minutes.
Measure out the flour and make a well in the center.
Pour the water mix into the flour and mix with a spoon.
Then use your hands and knead the dough for a few minutes.
Cover with cling film and leave at room temperature for up to 5 hours or until it has doubled in size.
Once the dough has doubled in size, remove it from the bowl and place it on a floured surface.
Divide the mixture, we divided it into 4 medium pizzas, but you can have 2 larger ones.
Fold each dough 8 times, then wrap in cling film and leave in the fridge for up to 5 days.
On the day of making the pizzas, remove from the fridge, add flour if needed, and knead them into a pizza shape.
As we don’t have pizza equipment, we used silver foil and rubbed olive oil on the top to prevent it from sticking while it was cooking in the oven.
Pizza Sauce (enough for 2 medium pizzas)
Ingredients:
¼ jar passata sauce
Garlic, to your taste, finely chopped.
1 tbsp. oregano
Season with salt & pepper
Method:
Add the ingredients to a bow and mix well. Store in fridge until needed.
Toppings:
Mozzarella
Pepperoni
Black olives
Mushrooms
Pineapple
