The 144,000 and Two Witnesses Part 12 - Revelation Study

The big problem I have with the pre-tribulation rapture view is, it makes no sense. When our faith in God is thoroughly tested, when the consequences for obeying God are severe, that’s the condition that tests us, and that's why there is a great tribulation: It’s to see who, on earth, lives by faith!

If salvation comes by faith, then what's wrong with having our faith tested? How else can we see if we really have the assurance of salvation that we claim? When Jesus was on earth, he knew the Great Tribulation would someday come, and this is why he says “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

The great tribulation will be a testing time; and the living will be judged during this 1260-day period. During the first four trumpets is where we have the meteoric showers of burning hail, the asteroid impact upon the ocean, the asteroid impact on the land of some untold continent, and then the great darkness around the middle-third of the earth. These judgments kill 25 percent of earth’s inhabitants. These four judgments tear up the whole world so that the 144,000 can go forward proclaiming the gospel. Empowered by the two witnesses, they proclaim the gospel to the whole world so that when Jesus comes there will be a multitude so great that it can’t even be counted.

Now, we come to the question, why are two witnesses put in Revelation 11? What’s their purpose? Since the Great Tribulation is a time of judgment for the living, this is precisely why there will be two witnesses during the judgment process. Even their names suggest a legal process. In Bible times, no one could be put to death on the testimony of one witness alone, therefore, two witnesses were required to put someone to death.
