"We were talking about difficulties in prayer, well the habitual difficulty in prayer, well one of them, is distraction.. we're all distracted in prayer, everyone has distractions in prayer and its kind of even distressing sometimes. We have to try to overcome them, but if you are very distracted in prayer, I will give you the advice that St. Teresa of Avila gave, "don't worry about it." Ok, that doesn't mean don't do anything about it, it means don't worry about it, it means everybody, everybody has distractions in prayer, sometimes. Now, we try to overcome them, as soon as we're aware, that we're distracted, we bring our mind back, onto our prayers, but do not allow yourself to be discouraged because of distraction in prayer, ok. Overcome it, and you might say "but I can't overcome it Father, I've tried everything and I'm still distracted in prayer." And guess what I'm going to give you for advice? - exactly.. pray for the Grace to overcome distraction in prayer, you see, whatever you're having trouble with, you know, lets just not just talk about it or agonize over it, lets do something about it.. and what can we do? - we can pray, you have problems with distractions, you can pray to overcome that and God will give the grace, but you have to be persevering in your prayer, don't just say a Hail Mary and then you say, "but Father I'm no better".. well keep praying, keep praying, and the Lord will give the Grace, I promise you that."
