Original YouTube Description: America is in a bad way, y'all. All this talk about our crumbling infrastructure and I'm thinking about the way people put food on the table. New Orleans has quite a few mom-and-pop grocery stores that got grandfathered in (now granted, a lot of them are drug fronts like the one across the street that the police raided last week until they found out they had the 'wrong address' and took off) but the regulatory environment that's been in place since the Progressive Era (1890-1920) has pretty well put the kibosh on anyone without extremely deep pockets getting involved in the food industry. Hence your Shark Tank, angel investors, etc. Anyway, in this video I try to articulate that the old ways of 'making groceries' aren't gonna come back because it's economically unfeasible, and the big box grocery stores we all grew up with aren't going to be able to replace them because, again, it's economically unfeasible. Something's gotta change.
