H&B (Acoustic Demo Version)

The way this thing came about is pretty standard, for me. First, I was dinking around on my acoustic guitar and I came up with a simple chord progression that I enjoyed. After I was able to get the progression to sound the way I wanted - and to come full circle to the top - I decided there ought to be some lyrics. Now, I had just received a letter in the mail from some law firm looking to see if I was a relative of some individual that, apparently, had died. Short story, long, I wasn't and I'm not. However, it sparked the idea for the lyrics, which explore the idea of a person, having fallen on hard times, getting the same sort of letter, discovering their inheritance, and opining on how it may change their life. (Any resemblance to any person, place, or thing, living or dead, is purely coincidental. This song is NOT about you!)
