Yellow Tang | Charming Seawater Ornamental Fish

Yellow Tang Fish or Zebrasoma flavescens is a type of marine ornamental fish that belongs to the Surgeryfish family. Yellow Tang Fish is in great demand by ornamental fish lovers because it can live healthy in the aquarium and has its own charm, which is a striking color. This species was first discovered in 1828 and this fish as an adult can grow to 20 cm or 7.9 with a thickness of 1 or 2 cm (0.39-0.79). This fish is bright yellow as the name suggests, but the color will fade at night. This is because as a form of adaptation so as not to be caught by predators. In contrast to other fish, the size of the males is larger than the size of the females. Yellow Tang is very suitable to be used as marine ornamental fish and placed in the aquarium. This type of fish can be found in coral reefs with a depth of about 2 to 46 meters. Zebrasoma flavescens species are distributed in the Pacific Ocean as well as the Indian Ocean west of Hawaii and also the eastern part of Japan. Much of the yellow tang fish in the industry is sourced from Hawaii. The appearance of the yellow tang fish is shaped like an arrow. This is because the dorsal fin as well as the fins of the yellow tang fish like the addition of their body, besides this fish has a long mouth like those used for foraging in coral reef areas. This type of food is algae, but Zebrasoma flavescens often eats fish eggs and even invertebrates around it.
