Airplane Mode - The Truth

This is a scary example of what could happen when passengers don't follow instructions and don't place their electronic devices into airplane mode. My guess is the engineers who designed the wires, instruments, and doodads didn't use shielding to prevent signals entering the instruments and, well watch what happens.
