Shofars Sound Inside San Jacinto Monument and City Hall

On a Shabbat in 2014, the beginning of Purim was announced by sounding shofars and dancing inside the San Jacinto Monument and Houston City Hall - both "limestone vaults" completed in 1939. Purim commemorates the miraculous salvation of the Israelites during captivity as recorded in the Book of Ester.
