He likes apples and pears too. One time several years ago we had a fat older dog. Vet said cut food in half and add canned green beans. We did that for a while then started to add a can of mixed veggies instead. Now all the dogs get veggies with their food. We also make all of our dog food in house. We don't trust anything from giant dog food processing plants. As a cattle rancher, we know where that mean comes from.
