Episode 8 Full. Experts?, Reading research, and a complete picture approach to exercise programs

This one has some length. Giggity. There are three major parts.
We discuss what it is to be an expert. I can't stress enough that there's a big difference between a specialist and an expert on anything. I wish I was a little more clear on the usefulness of both. But I think more on that next time.
We go over (with the assistance of a well written article by Eric Cressey) some techniques for looking at research and literature. Don't get bogged down in the details for now. Just know it pays to look beyond the abstract and screenshot those study guides to know what level of evidence you're being presented. And, on the lines of the current narratives, demand more from the "experts."
And last we talk a lot on looking at fitness programming from different angles to get well rounded results. In part three, Heath and I continue the discussion that is distilling the fitness industry. Heath gives his box gym experiences and I give my professional approach to making fitness a human development project instead of a sales pitch.
Think of all these things as skills. Let's make a 2021 resolution to keep developing new skills. They make you useful and independent. I didn't have to be a master plumber to get our water running after the big freeze. You don't have to be a master trainer to be healthier or a master virologist to look sideways at the current dogma.
As always peace and love family,
- Sam and Heath
