No-Knead Artisan Buttermilk Bread (Easy... No Mixer... No Yeast Proofing)

If you like ranch dressing... you like buttermilk. And this isn't the average Buttermilk bread... this is an artisan buttermilk bread with an airy crumb and tender crust. The appearance is excellent and the taste is great. Buttermilk is a great all-purpose bread. The buttermilk gives it a rich tangy flavor with a subtle buttery depth that is great for sandwiches and toast.

It is a common misconception to associate buttermilk with the richness of butter... buttermilk does not have butterfat. Buttermilk is the liquid remaining after taking the fat out from the milk in the process of making butter, thus it is lower in calories and fat than butter and higher in calcium, Vitamin B12 and potassium than regular milk. And use cultured buttermilk, if you substitute 2% for cultured buttermilk in this recipe it will upset the balance of wet and dry ingredients (because it's thinner), and you don't want to lose the nutritional value of buttermilk. After all, you wouldn't want to take the "yo" out of yogurt.
