Cheaha Falls - Chinnabee Silent Trail - Talladega National Forest
Alabama's beloved Cheaha State Park is
surrounded by the scenic and rugged
Talladega National Forest. It protects some
of the most beautiful natural waterfalls and
cascades in the Deep South.
Cheaha, which literally means high place, is in the foothills of the Appalachians and represents the highest point of elevation in Alabama.
The Chinnabee Silent Trail was constructed in 1977 by Boy Scout Troop 29. The troop was associated with the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Talledega.
This hike is fairly easy, with some inclines in
both directions, but be aware that the area
around the waterfall is extremely dangerous
with slippery rocks and a deep ravine.
Cheaha Falls is a beautiful three-tiered cascade that forms as Cheaha Creek tumbles 30 feet down a rock face.
