The Gospel According to St. John: Chapter 1

John portrays Christ as the Son of God. John's purpose is to set forth Christ in His deity in order to spark believing truth in the recipients of his Gospel."31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." John 20:31. Therefore he presents Christ as the Son of God. "34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God" John 1:34; who was sent from God. "46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father" John 6:46; "18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him" John 1:18; and always spoke the message God gave Him; "34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him" John 3:34. This is John's eyewitness account of Jesus Christ's coming and purpose for dwelling upon the earth and to make a clear path for those who by faith believe that Jesus Christ came to take away the sins of the world through repentance unto salvation, by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and would be called the children of God through Him.
