8 simple home remedies for migraine headache
Life can be so stressful at times and most commonly our body reacts with a headache.
A migraine is most commonly characterized by a throbbing pain, which is usually confined
to one side of the head and tends to get worse with movement. Typically , they last between 4 to 72 hours. This video eludes home remedies that could serve;
1. Pepperment
There has been some research that suggests that smelling peppermint may help reduce the frequency of migraines. A study published in the journal Headache found that people who sniffed peppermint every 20 minutes experienced less frequent migraines.
2. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been scientifically proven as a migraine relief remedy. The acidity
of the vinegar helps to dilate blood vessels in the brain, which can relieve some of the pain. It is worth noting that it will take at least 20 minutes for the full effect to happen,
so it is important that you mix it with water or juice and drink right away.
3. Drink Water
Drinking water is a common migraine treatment that has been used since ancient times. It has been shown in a variety of studies that drinking water can reduce migraine pain in a
matter of minutes.
4. Massage
A headache can feel like a pretty bad day. This is why it's important to understand the
different types of headaches and how to treat them. There are a variety of home remedies
that can help you manage your headache or reduce the pain. For those with migraine pain,
massage may be an effective treatment option.
5. Ice pack
When a migraine strikes, ice packs can help reduce the pain. Ice packs can be applied to
the head, neck, temples and forehead. This will help alleviate pain from a throbbing
headache or from a pulsating one.
6. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne pepper is well known for its ability to reduce the pain of migraines. Studies have
found that consuming cayenne pepper can reduce the frequency and severity of migraines. It also reduces the number of pain pills required by patients to take each day.
7. Chamomile
Chamomile is a popular plant with many uses. The most common use for it is as a treatment for migraines. It has been found to reduce the intensity of migraine pain and decrease the frequency of migraines.
8. Feverfew
Feverfew, a plant native to Southern Europe, has been used as a folk remedy for various
ailments including headaches and arthritis. It works by reducing inflammation in the body.
One study found that feverfew could reduce the frequency of migraines by half.
