This song is a Christmas Carol which originated from the Provence region of France in the 16th Century. The carol was first published in 1553 in France and was translated to English in the 18th century! To this day, children of France can be seen dressed up as milkmaids and shepherds, holding candles while singing this song as they walk to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. In this video and audio recording, Laura Casale expresses her interpretation of the carol, and the deep meaning behind the "Peace" of Christmas! Paintings are all by 16th and 17th Century Baroque Artists from France, Italy and Holland. All vocals, Instrumentation, recording and filming are done by Laura Casale.
