Kfir C.7

The Kfir C.7 is an all-weather multirole combat jet aircraft based on the Dassault Mirage 5 produced by Israeli Aircraft Industries for the Israeli military. As the 1967 arms embargo prevented Israel from acquiring french-made aircraft, the Israelis produced an unlicensed copy, the Nesher, and later began working on improvements. The change in engine to a General Electric J79 required some airframe changes, making it shorter in length and wider than the Mirage it was based on. It was accepted into service in 1975 as a primary air superiority fighter, but was quickly displaced by US-made F-15s. Around 1982, all C.2 models were upgraded to the C.7 variant, making it more suitable to the fighter-bomber role. The Kfir line of aircraft were removed from service in the late 1990s. Various models of Kfirs remain in service in Colombia, Sri Lanka and... ironically, the United States, where a private company operates 6 of them as a training contractor for the US government.

The Kfir C.7 is 15.6 meters long, 8.2 meter wingspan, 4.5 meters tall and weighs in at 7,285kg empty weight. It is powered by a J79-GE-J1E engine specially license-built by Beit Shemesh Engines, Ltd that produces 18,750 pound-feet of thrust for a maximum speed of about 2440 km/h or Mach 2.3. It was armed with 2x 30mm DEFA 553 cannons with 140 rounds per gun, an assortment of air-to-ground rockets including SNEB 68mm rockets, AIM-9 Sidewinders or Shafrir or Python AAMs, Shrike ARMs, AGM-65 Maverick ASMs, or bombs included the Paveways, GRiffin LGBs, and more.

In War Thunder, the Kfir C.7 will be joining the rank VII Israeli jet fighter tree during the Closed Beta Test period.
