Maine Struggles on Religious School Case at SCOTUS
3 years ago
849
School choice is back at the Supreme Court, this time in a case out of Maine where the state has forbidden parents from using school choice funds to send their children to a religious school. What makes the issue even more complex is the state attempting to justify discrimination by saying the religious schools could offer “non-sectarian” curriculum and thus become eligible for the program. But where would the state draw the line? Would a school be considered too Christian, or too Jewish, or too Muslim? This is the Court’s question, and one which if unchecked could lead to government overreach in our schools.
