Lansing MI - Dec 8, 2021

United Healthcare Workers (UHW), in collaboration with Operation Hope USA and America’s Frontline Doctors held a press conference on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, on the Capital steps in Lansing, MI.  Speakers included: Dr. Avery Jackson, MD, neurosurgeon, Dr. Christina Parks, PHD, cellular and molecular biologist, Dr. John Thomas, MD, a surgeon and founder of Operation HOPE USA, Dr. James Neuenschwander, MD., internal medicine, and COVID 19 Moderna Vaccine injury victim Amanda Damian.

Their strongest message was advocating for Michigan patients of color and healthcare staff during the COVID 19 pandemic and healthcare crisis.

They discussed the racial disparities that are happening and that the vaccine mandates and Covid-19 public health policies and protocols have revealed a startling new trend in medical discrimination and medical racism. According to CDC data, people of color are the least likely populations to receive the Covid-19 vaccines. This equates to people of color being denied access to employment, medical care, higher education, and medical training programs. This disparity occurs within minority communities at a much higher rate than their Caucasian counterparts. These racial disparities coupled with extreme Covid-19 lockdown policies have negatively impacted access of all ethnicities seeking treatment to medical facilities providing care, Additionally, black and brown people are being turned away from hospitals and doctors’ offices based on their medical status.

They shared stories of what is happening behind the walls of the hospitals, the inappropriate, and lack of, healthcare to address sick patients, the lack of individualized healthcare and epigenetic differences that need to be addressed to save lives, how the vaccine mandates are compounding the issues, and the real concerns coming out of the CDC data regarding the COVID19 Vaccines.

Healthcare workers across the State of Michigan have been told: Get the jab or be fired. Thousands of practitioners have been forced to leave their areas of expertise in healthcare, leading to the imminent threat of collapse of our healthcare system in Michigan. Hospitals are at capacity due to staff shortages, leading to a domino effect in proper care for minority populations in urban areas already stricken with issues of equity in and access to healthcare.

Doctors in Michigan and the nation are being censored and denied the ability to practice appropriately, and to their best trained judgments, to best meet the individual needs of their patients. Incentivized healthcare systems and public health edicts are getting in the way of doctors being able to provide early life-saving treatments to their COVID ill patients.

Sadly, the doctor's messages were unwelcome and multiple democratic lawmakers were downright abrasive and lacked any and all compassion for these doctor's pleas and their harmed patients. As family members of dead patients told their stories of vaccine injury or hospital mistreatments, they were met with eye rolls and aggressive hostility. By afternoon, most Democrat Senators in Lansing cancelled their appointments with our black and brown doctors who were pleading for help and protections for their patients. They refused to hear their concerns of medical racism and the lack of appropriate care. This was shocking and very disappointing from the political party who claims that black lives matter. We hope this was a miscommunication and that these lawmakers really do care about black lives... but in the meantime, while they continue to hide in their offices and refuse to hear these doctors, people are dying and will continue to die until this crisis is addressed.

Unfortunately, the doctors are expecting this crisis is going to get much much worse within these hospitals as hundreds of healthcare workers walk away this month.
