Padron Damaso No 12 Robusto Cigar Review
This 5x50 robusto sized stick features a dark tan firmly packed buttery soft wrapper with minimal veins, tight invisible seams, large triple cap and pungent sweet floral woody aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with plentiful medium bodied smoke showing flavors of an initially bitter soft wood that grows a sweetness very quickly through the soft short finish. The first third shifts to a medium-full nutty core with a creamy soft sweetness followed by a long smooth but increasingly peppery finish without any bite or heat. The 1/2 way point comes in at a quick 20 minutes holding the ash in a solid chunk, burning absolutely perfectly with rich near full bodied smoke. Flavors grow in complexity, not approaching typical Padron levels but very unusual for a Connecticut nonetheless. Nuttiness, soft earth, nutmeg and cream abound followed by the same smooth slightly peppery nutty long finish. Ending at 45 minutes the final third shifted again to more of a plain typical Connecticut profile with a soft earth and nuttiness dropping the more interesting flavors and the pepper while adding just a touch of strength from the band point back.
