Chinese BoreSnake cleaning ropes on Ebay and Amazon

Purchased a few of these a while back

First I know that these are knock-offs

Second, I have been trying to research the patents on the items, but have come up empty. If someone with a mind for patent research would like to send me a link to Hoppes' patent file post it in the comments and I will pin it to the top.

Third, based on my research Hoppes' lower end boresnakes (which these are imitating) are usually made in China or Mexico...so I really do not buy the "Buy American" argument for this product. If it of great concern to you simply change your search on Amazon and Ebay to only include sellers from the USA (That is what I do).

Forth, I totally understand and respect if others disagree with me regarding these knock-off items. I understand that they are copies. However, I would argue that Hoppes is simply putting a brand name over an old technology. I have read stories about soldiers using shoelaces dipped in oil and cleaner to clean their weapons. The notion of taking fabric and using it to clean pipes and barrels has been around for a very very long time, and I honestly believe their is some genuine room to debate whether any company can own that idea in any real way.

NOW all that being said. The items I feature in this video appear strong and of decent quality. I have not had a breakage since filming (some time ago) and have used these items many times. I have seen some examples on amazon and ebay review showing breakages happening where to pull string meets the cleaning fabric.....However, I have seen the same sort of breakage on Hoppes' genuine boresnakes as well......so take that for what it is worth.
