Is the modernized Ontario sex-ed curriculum necessary?

The modern curriculum, introduced in 2015, made it so that students could be taught about consent, sexting, online bullying, and the LGBT. Conservatives like Premier Doug Ford are against that and have repealed the curriculum. The Ontario high school students are protesting, as a result.

I just don't get how stressing the importance of consent, makes you a 'brainwashed liberal'.
