Oxford High School was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, after a 15-year-old sophomore opened fire on students, killing 4 and injuring 7 others, including one teacher. The four students who lost their lives are 14-year old Hana St. Juliana, 16-year-old Tate Myre, and 17-year-olds Madisyn Baldwin and Justin Shilling.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1 pm on Tuesday, November 30th. Officers with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded within minutes, entering the building and disarming the shooter after encountering him with a 9mm Sig Sauer pistol in the hallway.

Students were evacuated to a local Meijer less than half a mile from the high school campus. The store served as a reunification site for students and families, closing for the day after the incident.

The shooter was named the following day by the Sheriff’s Department. Ethan Crumbley is now charged with 4 counts of first-degree murder, 1 count of terrorism causing death, 7 counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. This is the deadliest school shooting in the United States this year, and the most destructive of any in recent Michigan history.
