Boss RSD-10 + S2400 // Wild Glitchy Vintage Delay Effect Box & Crunchy Sampler

After searching for some of the wildest, glitchiest hardware effects boxes I could fine, I stumbled across the Boss RSD-10. This thing is vintage digital mayhem. What makes it unique is that it's terribly designed in the best way meaning it does all the things a typical delay unit... well... shouldn't. It frequently glitches out when switching modes. It saves "ghost" recordings in it's memory and replays them at random times, layered with the current original sound. It also has a "keyboard input" which allows you to plug a synthesizer into it and trigger back sampled recordings in different pitches, OR change the pitch tracking of the delayed signal playback. This of course leads to even more weirdness.

That being said, the Boss RSD-10 is highly usable and said to be many producer's secret weapon. In this video I'll show you various effects builds that quite often make their way into my songs using the various delay ranges and manually automating the feedback knob. Also, I frequently feed loops into it and play with the various parameters while recording in Ableton, capturing all those beautifully odd nuggets of gold that you can slice out and use for unique percussion bits in my music.

This particular unit requires a "wet mod" in order to get a 100% wet signal out of it. This was a daunting task at first because it does require you take the entire unit apart and de-solder and remove a capacitor, but fortunately I captured the entire process with photos and will be writing up a "How To" on my website which I'll link here soon.

These Boss effects units are now fairly rare, and while hard to find, can usually be had for a couple hundred dollars, so modifying them to become strange delay glitch machines isn't too nerve wracking- highly recommended in fact.
