Fiery PROTESTS and LOOTING erupt in France’s Martinique - dissent against COVID restrictions spirals

Demonstrators have set up burning barricades and looted shops on the Caribbean island of Martinique.

Local footage shows streets and entire buildings ablaze, with improvised blockades placed along roads on Thursday. Unrest on Martinique has been going on for weeks now, sparked by the authorities’ push to ramp up vaccination rates.

Forced vaccination appears to be a heavy subject in France’s Caribbean territories, as in the last century many islanders were systematically exposed to toxic pesticides used on banana plantations.
