Some body fat is required for survival and to preserve your organs. If you consume more calories than your body can use or burn off, excess fat can accumulate on your body. Genetics plays a big role in determining where your body stores fat. Extra fat is stored in the hips, lower tummy, and inner thighs of women. Men can have fat in their inner thighs as well, however they tend to deposit it in their abdomen.
