Last week, we walked through 2 Peter 1:1-4. We discussed the faith of equal standing that all believers possess, and the reality that God gives His children all things pertaining to life and godliness. Then we saw that God’s "precious and very great promises" include having a part in His divine nature. These are incredible thoughts!
Today we are going to continue in 2 Peter 1 and look at verses 5-11. It’s important to understand that Peter’s thoughts from vs3-4 are continued on into vs 5-11.
In this passage, Peter is talking about the progression of our faith— how the Gospel transforms us. This is important, because God has plans for each of His children. His plan includes growth, maturing, and preparation.
By faith, we trust Him for salvation, and once you have been adopted into His family, you are expected to grow, to mature, and to prepare for spiritual battle to come.
So today, we are going to see what Peter says we need to supplement our faith.
