A YOUNG couple are standing up to online trolls who judge their interabled relationship. Menecis, 23, met Brody, 23, when they were in kindergarten, but it wasn’t until high school that the couple became close friends. Then in senior year, Brody plucked up the courage to ask Menecis to prom, who of course said yes, admitting she already knew she was in love with him. Since then, the couple have been fully committed to each other. However, despite the loving relationship, they have faced judgement due to Brody being a congenital amputee, which means he was born without legs. For the most part people have judged them online, questioning whether Menecis is using Brody for fame: “People assume I’m [Menecis] with him for his money, or to get me clout on social media.” And there are others suggesting the idea that Menecis would be loyal is impossible with comments online reading: 'If that’s actually your boyfriend and you don’t cheat God rest your soul'. When it comes to going out in public, Brody says: “People aren’t as bold in public as they are in the comments section”, and that generally people don’t say hurtful things to their face. However, people staring is commonplace, with Menecis and Brody learning to ignore them. In spite of all the judgement, Brody and Menecis are continuing to post videos online of them having fun together and loving one another. This, for the most part, entertains their 1.5 million TikTok followers with endless laughs, but also shows they’re unphased by any hate that may come their way.
