Isaiah Meanderings (13): Ch 10 - When Leaders Deceive and Destroy, God Alone Saves and Restores

Isaiah 10 has God clearly prophesying into Judah's journey - Assyria the power that threatens at this time, will indeed serve the purposes of God. God is in control, enemies will come and go; but in all things they will serve God and God's design for the people of Israel that they have a heart to know God. It is a costly journey the sin of the people has chosen - one full of God's anger - an anger rooted in deep commitment and the clear longing for right relationship that is established in righteousness and justice. But above all, God declares that Israel will, indeed, become a people capable of right relationship to God; a people with a heart that will rightly reflect their knowledge of God - and it is in this the end that the people are to trust.
