There comes a time in a Believer's life where they begin to yearn to know Jesus for themselves. They want to hear the Lord alone and not from others. There starts to become a hollowness to the human teaching. There has been something that has been put within them long ago from the beginning of their new birth. That something is an ever-growing deep hunger meant to outlast endless studies, sermons and intellectual disciplines.

Over time there is this feeling of wanting to stand on their own personal ground. This is a mark of increasing spiritual maturity. There is a restlessness in all the horizontal learning. Even the great masters of divinity that are dearly beheld and beloved, respected, and admired become flat. A greater, far deeper wanting of Jesus for themselves outlasts everything. They want HIM.

In the word, there were many people who heard of Jesus, but after awhile they wanted to see and hear Him for themselves. There are millions of others that never have this ever-increasing hunger. They are content to walk according to the course of this world, and want to go no further. But there is more. Perhaps you have been feeling the same way.

One thing I do know, is that when a person stays consistent, always persevering in prayer, reading the word, obeying the Lord, over a long period of time something happens. Though all has been said and done, that same great deep hunger to know the Lord, and to see Him for themselves, remains ever standing like a great and mighty, immovable mountain.

It is in the persevering that you will see God with your spiritual eyes, and your prayers will be weighty like the unmovable mountain of your yearning. This is evidence that you are getting nearer to heaven than ever before.

“If we make a full surrender, God will give us something better than we have ever known before. We will get a new vision of Jesus Christ, and will thank God not only in this life but in the life to come.” – D.L. Moody
