Astroworld concert crush: Family of 9th victim remembers daughter as someone who loved othersThe family of Bharti Shahani, the ninth victim of the Astroworld "mass casualty incident," remembered their daughter and sister on Thursday as someone who loved her family, friends and her dog Blue.

"Bharti is love, you know what is love? Bharti is love, pure, always thinking about everybody," her mother Karishma Shahani told reporters.

Shahani was declared dead on Wednesday night, though her family and lawyer James Lassiter told media that she had not yet been removed off of the ventilator, adding hospital staff was in the process because Shahani was donating her organs. According to reports, Shahani had suffered brain damage as a result from the incident at the festival.

Her father, Bhagu "Sunny" Shahani, said she was the "head of the family" and asked those in attendance of the press conference they were holding to "please, please make sure that she gets the justice."

The electronics systems engineering technology student Bharti attended the festival with her sister and cousin and lost each other after the crowd surged to the stage.

“Once we let go of her hand, the next time we saw her, we were in the ER,” said Bharti’s sister Namrata Shahani.

“The doctors, they say the chances of survival are nothing, which I have not even spoken to my wife until now. We keep saying we’ll pray,” said Bharti’s father to KTRK.

The lawsuit Bharti’s family filed against Travis and Live Nation accuses the defendants of negligence, gross negligence, and vicarious liability.

The family claims that Bharti underwent physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical disfigurement, and impairment among other things due to the injuries she sustained.
