What makes a Desi girl? Desi is a slang way of saying South Asian...so basically all shades of brown are being repped at this show. Our Desi Girls are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Palestine, half Japanese half Moroccan, South African American Translation: Desi-gnated drivers of madcap mayhem, mischief and misadventures. Desi Girls are today’s clown princesses, liberated and completely a-woke. There’s no layer of ham or sham they don’t cover. Desi Girls see life clearly, unshackled by yesteryear’s burkas and hijabs.

Meet Minority Reportz Founder, beautiful badass Pakistani-American Mona Shaikh. Overcoming Mona’s tumultuous and abusive childhood from a conservative Muslim Pakistani background takes strength, courage, and a definite moral compass. Mona has those qualities in spades. Having grown up with physical abuse from parents & her 4 older brothers, to almost being married off to a 40 year old at the age of 17 to being a victim of a hate crime at Beverly Center by some pampered woman, a total stranger, who found her darker skin offensive which resulted in a hospital stay and surgery. Mona has overcome a lot and she isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Mona started out Minority Reportz at The Comedy Store in Sep. 2015 out of a need to see "other" darker-skinned female comedians like herself on stage. Comedians like Tiffany Haddish, Iliza Schlesinger, Nikki Glaser, Finesse Mitchell, have all participated in Minority Reportz.

Since she arrived in America, Mona has moved the needle in fighting social and political causes from civil rights to uncivil male behavior issues amongst fellow comics. Mona has a South Asian sensibility with strong Americanized values cherishing the First Amendment—the right to bear witness with a big freedom-loving mouth that raises eyebrows and temperatures. With her offbeat sense of humor Shaikh is a non-uptight tightrope walker who commit serious oralgami, unfolding the spoken word while striving to maintain equilibrium whilst dealing with harsh and conflicting forces. With half of her life spent in a prominent conservative Muslim household in Pakistan, and the other immersed with America’s entertainment and culture, Mona knew she was set out to break boundaries. Today Mona resides in Los Angeles, Calif., pursuing her career as a comedian and actor while developing her upcoming One-Hour Special and Comedy TV series. She also made history by becoming the first Pakistani female Comedian to headline Hollywood Improv. Mona was most recently featured in LA Times, Forbes, LA Weekly, NBC, The Progressive and Huffington Post. Mona has headlined in Dubai, Portugal and London. She also emcee'd the Womens March in SF in 2019 thus making history to be the first South Asian/Middle Eastern female comedian to perform for a crowd of 60K. She recently appeared on The Rookie on ABC as Donna Abbasi and will also be on Apple TV's Helpsters as Reina Rafter. She again made history by producing her own show at The World Famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles called Minority Reportz with a launch of sold-out shows.‌
