Tyrannosaurus lived in what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia. Tyrannosaurus had a much wider range than other tyrannosaurids. Fossils have been found in various rocks dating back to the Maastrichtian age of the Upper Cretaceous Period, from 68 to 66 million years ago.[2] It was the last known representative of tyrannosaurids[3] and one of the last non-avian dinosaurs that existed before extinction in the Cretaceous and Paleogene periods.
