Here's three strong purposes that consistently publishing valuable, helpful, insightful content does for your online business -- whether you choose to write articles, create videos, publish blog posts, create webinars, start a podcast...or whatever format you might have in mind.

First, the free and valuable content that you publish attracts the group of people, the target audience, that you want to serve in your business. What happens is, once you've identified a target market -- that is, a sub-market of a larger market or a group of people who share a specialized interest...

...and once you've done your due diligence and research and learned about their needs, pains, and biggest challenges, you can begin publishing content specifically for them. When they search online, looking to find fixes for their issues, challenges, and pains -- and they definitely are -- they find you.

So, the first purpose of using a content marketing strategy for your online business is to attract and build an audience for your online business.

The second purpose that your free and valuable articles, posts, and videos serve is to build trust with your audience. Nearly all the people in your target audience don't know you yet. And we don't trust people who we don't know.
