US teacher who underwent brain surgery returns to teaching ONE DAY after operation

A  teacher returned to lessons just ONE day after brain surgery to remove a brain tumour - via video from her hospital bed.

Katherine Meucci, 39, received the worrying news that she had a developing brain tumour.

According to doctors, although the tumour was "probably benign", it was still essential to remove it as swiftly as possible, and she underwent brain surgery.

Katherine, who has been teaching at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School for seven years, was determined not to let that get in the way of her teaching duties.

Less than 24 hours after her operation, she took to Facebook Live to read a bedtime story to her fourth grade students from her hospital bed - like she always does.

She created the closed Facebook group Franklin Bedtime Stories years ago, so students and sometimes teachers could read a bedtime story to their friends at school.

She used the Facebook Live video to read the book, “Mr. Walker Steps Out” by Lisa Graff, and reassure her students that she will be back to school as soon as she can.

In the video, Katherine, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, said: “I’m sorry if I look a little weird.

"I got this black eye going on right here because they cut open my head right here to take out my brain tumour."
