best web hosting for small business
When trying to find solid, reliable hosting or your online business and your web projects, it can be totally overwhelming. There's just so many options, choices, and technical jargon that sometimes it's hard to make sense of things.
And to complicate things further...and I don't know if you know this or not...but there are even different types of web hosting. So what I'll do here is make some hosting recommendations for you, and I'll break them down by web hosting type.
This'll help you determine a host that'll be a great fit for you. And, be sure to check the Show Notes below where I've left you some additional resources.
First, if you’re just getting started with your online business website, or even if you’re running a small to medium-sized business website, then a great option for you is what's called shared hosting. Here, multiple websites are stored together on a single web server, where resources are shared.
This type of hosting is all about keeping costs low while also getting great customer service and reliable web hosting. And if that's what you're after, then a top choice is a web host called Web Hosting Hub. I’ve worked with them for a number years, and they’ve been great.
Their plans start at just $4/month, include the easy to use cPanel interface, and their service is fast and reliable. That’s tough to beat!
If you’re thinking you need a little more power and flexibility, you could try SiteGround. SiteGround also uses the cPanel interface, has great pricing, and is known to have some of the best, friendliest, and most knowledgeable customer service in the industry.
Next, let's lump two types of hosting in together -- VPS, and cloud hosting...that's because because these types of web hosting likely aren’t a good fit for your needs. But let's cover them anyway.
First, VPS hosting. VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. Here, your website is still stored with other sites on a single web server, but your site's hosted within it's own virtual server. This means that resource sharing won't be an issue.
This could be a good fit for you and your online business...but not likely if you're just getting started. The same holds true for cloud hosting. With this type of hosting, several web servers are connected together, creating a resource "cloud" that multiple websites can share.
If you think either cloud hosting or the previous web hosting type, VPS, may work for you, SiteGround offers these types of hosting.
The last major type of web hosting is what's called Managed WordPress hosting. Here, a dedicated support team keeps an eye on your website on a daily basis, manages backups and keeping things up to date, and otherwise managing your site for you.
This is great if you'd rather focus on other areas of your business and leave the techie stuff to the pros. If you’re thinking that you want to go the Managed WordPress route, then look no further than WP Engine. WP Engine has great customer support, scalability and solid infrastructure for growing businesses.
So there's some hosting recommendations for your online business. For your own assurance, know that you really can’t go wrong with with any of the companies I’m recommending. I’ve rigorously researched every one of them, and as I say, I use these myself, for my own various web projects.
