Thousands attend Lewes Bonfire Night celebration despite COVID warnings

Massive crowds flock to the traditional Bonfire Night effigy burning parade in Lewes despite COVID warnings from local officials.

The Lewes Bonfire Night celebration is conducted every year by the seven bonfire societies, many of whom have existed since the 19th century. Before social distancing measures were introduced, as many as 60,000 people would attend the event.
