In the suburbs, police detained suspects in kidnapping

These images show Russian police detaining two men suspected of kidnapping in the Moscow area. The suspects were arrested by police officers with the support of the National Guard on the Gorkovskoye highway in the city of Balashikha, in the Moscow Oblast region in Russia.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation released a statement saying: "Officers of the criminal investigation department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Moscow Region, together with colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia 'Noginskoye', detained members of the group suspected of kidnapping."

The statement also said: "According to the available information, the attackers, being on the territory of one of the SNT in Bogorodsky city, inflicted bodily harm on a 42-year-old citizen, forcibly placed him in the trunk of a car and took him to Moscow, where he was illegally kept in the garage. For his release, the offenders demanded 30 thousand US dollars from his relatives."

The authorities added: "As a result of operational-search measures by police officers with the support of the Russian National Guard, one of the malefactors was detained at the time of the transfer of funds. His accomplice, who was in another car at the time of suppression of illegal activity, managed to escape. Immediately the police introduced the 'Intercept' plan.

"In the area of ​​g. Balashikha on the Gorkovskoye highway, the hiding car was blocked, and the driver was detained. The kidnappers turned out to be two natives of Central Asia, 29 and 30 years old, one of whom was previously convicted."

The police added that the suspects had been taken into custody and that the investigation was ongoing.
