If you're dealing with children (particularly kids with developmental delays), you're going to have to resign yourself to the idea that they will have to hear "Too bad, you HAVE to..." when they say, "I don't wanna!"

To be fair, when dealing with Autism, and other things likely to lead to delays, it's REALLY important that you choose your battles.

That's certainly the case with my son.

That said, I felt the need to put out there for discussion this idea, for those who have forgotten (or never learned) this important reality.

This is true for kids (that includes those with things like Autism), but it also applies to adults (for those supervising and managing, you know this is the case).

One of the important considerations, work to make those, "I don't wannas" that you challenge, things to aid growth and maturity.

This is the topic for discussion on this edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
