Tim Larkin here. Do security cameras lower crime? I've been asked this a lot, and you might find this a little surprising. I've talked with tons of law enforcement officials and they're mixed on it. It does prevent some things, but what's shocking is what is filmed when people know they're being filmed. It doesn't stop as much as you may think. I'll give you an example from Australia where the attackers know they're being filmed.
