On the island of Palma, part of the Canary Islands archipelago, the eruption of the volcano Cumbre Vieja continues. The lava flow has reached residential buildings and has already destroyed more than 100 buildings.
According to the Institute of Volcanology of the Canary Islands, lava moves at a speed of 700 meters per hour. Its temperature is over 1000 degrees Celsius. Scientists expect lava to reach the Atlantic Ocean in the near future.
About 5.5 thousand people were evacuated from dangerous places. The Spanish military and civilian guards are trying to prevent fires from erupting.
