Tragedia de Santa Lucia

Imagine the mountain on the left collapses onto the glacier below. This causes a lahar that rushes down the mountain. This is more or less what happened on 16 December 2017 with the Rio Frio glacier.
The ice and rock rushed down the mountain and inundated the village of Santa Lucia in Southern Chile. 20 people were killed and the village was largely destroyed.
