Brave locals rescued five puppies stuck under a flooded house in Thailand.

The villagers heard the pooches crying from inside the property in Pathum Thani province on October 8 evening after a heavy downpour.

When the residents checked, the dogs could not be found until they noticed the litter was trapped in a narrow gap under the house’s wall.

The locals, together with rescuers, crouched and looked through the muddy water to locate the puppies before saving them about an hour later.

A rescue team member said: ‘They were soaked in the water for hours. The dogs were shaking when we brought them out. It wasn’t easy trying to find the dogs but it was worth it.’

At first, a volunteer reached into the hole using a stick but could not pull the dogs out so he laid in the water and used his hands and grabbed them one by one.

Five dogs were successfully rescued and were taken home with the rescue team members to be fed and cleaned before being sent to an animal shelter.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain, and flash floods.
