FATAL ACCIDENT AS DRIVER FALLS ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, MOSCOW TEXAS, 10/20/21...

Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes, Passenger Deceased, Driver Flown From Scene, MOSCOW, October 20, 2021 - Sometime during the hour of 4 a.m., the driver of a 2020 GMC pickup was north-bound on US-59. The driver (names being withheld at this time), apparently fell asleep. His vehicle left the pavement to the right and continued through the grass, and jumped Brushy Creek. The vehicle landed head-on into the embankment on the other side of Brushy Creek and turned over. The driver managed to crawl from the wreckage and make his way back to the road. He flagged down a passer by. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Officers with the Corrigan Police Department, and Corporal Ramey Bass and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol. Sadly, during the crash, the passenger was killed. The driver was flown from the scene by PHi Air Medical to Conroe Regional Hospital. The vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan and was assisted by Country Boy Towing. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
