David Berlinski is a critic of evolution but does not openly avow Intelligent Design. He describes his relation to it as "warm but distant" refusing to theorize about the origins of life. He earned his PhD in philosophy from Princeton University and was later a post doctoral fellow in mathematics and molecular biology at Columbia. He has also taught philosophy, mathematics and English at Stanford, Rutgers, the City University of New York and the Universite de Paris. He has also held research fellowships at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria and the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques. He is a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute Center for Science and Culture, has written works on systems analysis, the history of differential topology, analytic philosophy, and the philosophy and history of mathematics.
