In Erwartung von Protesten am Tag nach der Einführung der Impfpflicht für einige Arbeitnehmer im Bundesstaat Victoria war am Samstag in Melbourne eine große Polizeipräsenz in öffentlichen Bereichen zu sehen.

Militärähnliche Polizeifahrzeuge waren auf den Straßen zu sehen, während die Polizei in Parks patrouillierte und Personen festnahm, die sich nicht an die Coronavirus-Beschränkungen hielten.

Für Samstag waren in ganz Melbourne große Versammlungen von Impfgegnern geplant, die jedoch größtenteils von Polizeipatrouillen in der Stadt vereitelt wurden.

Seit Freitag müssen sich Angestellte, die auf der Liste der zugelassenen Arbeitnehmer des Bundesstaates Victoria stehen - zu denen wichtige Dienstleistungen und viele andere Unternehmen gehören -, zum ersten Mal impfen lassen und bis zum 26. November vollständig geimpft sein.

A large police presence could be seen in public areas in Melbourne, on Saturday, in anticipation of protests the day after vaccines became mandatory for some workers in the state of Victoria.

Military-style police vehicles could be seen parked on streets as police patrolled parks, arresting people who didn't comply with coronavirus restrictions.

Anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine protesters had planned large gatherings across Melbourne on Saturday but were mostly thwarted by police patrols in the city.

Starting on Friday, employees on Victoria's Authorised Worker list - which includes essential services and many other businesses - must have their first vaccine shot and be fully vaccinated by November 26.

El sábado se pudo ver una gran presencia policial en las zonas públicas de Melbourne, en previsión de las protestas que se produjeron el día después de que las vacunas fueran obligatorias para algunos trabajadores del estado de Victoria.

Se podían ver vehículos policiales de estilo militar aparcados en las calles mientras la policía patrullaba los parques, deteniendo a las personas que no cumplían con las restricciones impuestas por el coronavirus.

Los manifestantes contra el bloqueo y las vacunas habían planeado grandes concentraciones en todo Melbourne el sábado, pero fueron frustradas en su mayoría por las patrullas policiales en la ciudad.
