In Brazil, a football player faces jail for assaulting a referee during a match

Brazilian military police detained Sao Paulo football player William Ribeiro, who attacked referee Rodrigo Crivilaro in the second division of Rio Grande do Sul against Guarani. The athlete hit the judge with his fist, and then kicked a person who was already lying on the neck. The incident occurred in the second half of the meeting on October 4. The victim lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital.

The football club has terminated its contract with the athlete. The football player’s actions were considered attempted murder, and if proven guilty, he will face long-term imprisonment.
