Italy: Milan bank workers use green pass on first day of roll-out - 15.10.2021

Die Mitarbeiter der Unicredit-Bank in der Mailänder Filiale Gae Aulenti nutzten am Freitag ihre grünen COVID-Ausweise, um den Arbeitsplatz zu betreten, nachdem diese für die Mitarbeiter verpflichtend geworden waren, um zu arbeiten.

Rund ein Dutzend Demonstranten standen vor dem Palazzo Sormani und prangerten die neuen Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung des Coronavirus an.

"Wir fordern kostenlose COVID-Tests für alle ungeimpften Personen. Ich möchte betonen, dass dies ein Protest ist, der sowohl geimpfte als auch ungeimpfte Menschen einbezieht, und kein sanitärer Protest", erklärte ein Demonstrant.

Alle italienischen Staatsbürger, die im öffentlichen oder privaten Sektor arbeiten, müssen jetzt einen "grünen Pass" mit einem QR-Code mit sich führen, um nachzuweisen, dass sie vollständig geimpft sind, sich kürzlich von einer Infektion erholt haben oder innerhalb der letzten 48 Stunden einen negativen Test bestanden haben.

Arbeitnehmer, die den Gesundheitspass nicht mit sich führen, werden ohne Bezahlung suspendiert und können mit einer Geldstrafe von bis zu 1 500 € (1 730 $) belegt werden. Auch Arbeitgeber müssen mit Geldstrafen rechnen, wenn sie Arbeitnehmern erlauben, ohne den grünen Pass zu arbeiten.

Workers from the Unicredit bank in Milan's Gae Aulenti business used their COVID green passes to enter the workplace on Friday, after it became mandatory for employees to have in order to work.

"I found it pretty comfortable. A scanner is helping us to enter, technology is useful in this case," an employee, Salvatore De Cristoforo, said after entering the facility.

Around a dozen protesters stood outside the Palazzo Sormani denouncing the new measures put in place to curb the coronavirus.

"We are asking for COVID tests for unvaccinated people for everyone, for free. I want to stress that this is a protest involving both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, not a sanitary protest," a protester stated.

All Italian citizens working in the public or private sector are now required to carry a 'green passport' with a QR code as proof of full vaccination, recent recovery from infection or a negative test within the last 48 hours.

Workers without the health pass are suspended without pay and could face a fine of up to €1,500 ($1,730). Employers also face fines if they allow employees to work without the green pass.
