The excellent Italian Judge Giorgianni explained that "I resigned from the judiciary three years ahead of schedule because I can afford to do so and I don't want to be conditioned right now, but I want to be free to express my opinions freely."
On stage, the (old) toga spoke of "eviction notice for those who illegally occupy the buildings of power" given to them "by the Italian people" and of wanting "a trial for them, a new Nuremberg" for "the dead, the deprivation and suffering they caused. As magistrate - continued Saturday from the stage - I have come to honor the sovereign people, and between you and the people I choose the sovereign people and leave the gown".
Judge Angelo Giorgianni's statements on stage in Rome's Piazza del Popolo on the day of the "no green pass" demonstration continue to animate the debate within the judiciary in Messina. Giorgianni is expected to retire next January. But for his colleagues, his "incitement to disobedience" remains a serious matter...

"Justice does not consist in being neutral between right and wrong, but in discovering right and upholding it, wherever it is found, against wrong."
