ZLT-11 Devblog - China Rank VII Light Tank [War Thunder Next Major Update]

Well, this is another surprise! Could Gaijin be hustling to get this patch out in a hurry? Monday Devblogs are not unknown, but are unusual this early in the patch cycle. By the way, this one goes by either ZLT-11 or ZTL-11, but it DOES make a really cute tank destroyer (assault tank), despite being larger than a lot of World War 2 tanks!

The ZLT-11 is an amphibious-capable assault gun or tank destroyer bult on the Type 08 modular chassis by the Chinese Military. Designed and manufactured by China North Industries Corporation or NORINCO, the vehicle is intended for direct contact against enemy positions and lightly armored vehicles. As information is pretty sparse on Chinese vehicles, we'll just observe that amphibious assault is a high priority to the Chinese military.

The ZLT-11 is 8 meters long, 3 meters wide and 2.1 meters tall, weeighing in at a rather stout 22 tons, or about 2 tons heavier than an M24 Chaffee. Speaking of the Chaffee, the ZLT-11 vehicle is longer but shorter than that familiar vehicle, just for a bit of comparison. It is powered by a Deutz BF6M1015C diesel engine outputting 440 horsepower which drives the ZLT-11 to about 100 kilometers per hour. Armaments include the 105mm Royal Ordnance L7, a 12.7mm heavy machine gun and 12 smoke dischargers. It can carry up to 30 105mm projectiles. The vehicle is propelled through the water by two rear-mounted propellers.

In War Thunder, the ZLT-11 will grace the Rank VII Chinese light tank tree, including almost non-existent armor, amphibious capability, thermal imaging, laser-rangefinder and ATGMs.
